Scorpio is a female fronted tribute to the German rock legends Scorpions.
Formed in the spring of 2017 and based in Audubon NJ, Scorpio covers all of Scorpions hits along with many classics and a few rarities.
Scorpio takes pride in their live performances, both sonically and visually, featuring a group of dedicated and seasoned musicians. Singer Michelle Beihl delivers a pitch perfect vocal attack required during such hits as “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and “Still Loving You”.The twin guitar assault featured on “No One Like You” and “Big City Night” are skillfully brought to you by Glenn Hansel and Ben Bower. And keeping it all together, providing the bottom end groove, are bassists Wayne Gladyz and drummer George Almond, which can be heard behind the classic “Rhythm of Love” and the mega-hit “Wind of Change”.
Scorpio has performed in NJ, DE, and PA and shared the bill with many like minded tributes. Whether its an opening slot, headlining, or hosting an event, Scorpio delivers a performance with the highest level of enthusiasm, dedication, and professionalism.
Michelle's musical journey as a performer got a late start at 25 years old when her grandfather taught her some chords on guitar. While writing originals, she realized that singing would be an additional and main focus. Since then, Michelle's primary experience has been with the local original indie rock scene. As a singer, songwriter and recording artist, Michelle was also heavily invested in the local open mic community.. Formed in 2010, Michelle is a founding member of the original indie rock outfit Shadow Station. In addition to writing, recording and performing with Shadow Station, Michelle has been the vocalist for Scorpio since 2017 as well.
Glenn has played for over 25 years in Delaware Valley Classic rock cover acts starting with his time in Last Call with The Mojoman back in the late '80's. Glenn played for many years in various rock and tribute bands most recently with Pink Floyd and Allman Bro's tribute bands.
Being an amplifier designer, Glenn is a fan for the mastery of tone and the fusion of the guitar and amplifier while helping him emulate the guitarist he is covering.
George started playing drums at age 15 via lessons at local music stores and playing along to Motley Crue and Poison cd”s. Throughout the 90’s, as a member of original and cover bands, writing, recording and performing were constant. In 2001, after graduating A.I.M. in Atlanta, George continued his musical path similar to the 90’s. These days tribute acts are his main focus, both musically and visually. Currently, George divides his time between iC/DC (ACDC Tribute) and SCORPIO (A Tribute to Scorpions).
Over the years, Ben, a Mulit-Instrumentalist and singer, has played in more groups than he can even remember. Ben’s earliest exposure to music was the then just released Blackout album from Scorpions.
Blaring from his older sister's Chevy Monza, via cassette, the 1982 german metal assault started a life long rock n’ roll obsession. Despite years of playing in bands, Scorpio is his first ever foray into the realm of the tribute scene.
In addition to Scorpio, Ben, a resident of Philadelphia, can be seen in the area on guitar with the glitter glam rock outfit, Creem Circus.
